Okay, well maybe not that adventurous really, but I did make a start on my costume prep. Set to go as a Sandman, as per the eponymous lead of Logan's Run for my big b-day next month. Now, you'd think this would be simple enough, it's not exactly a wild outfit . . .
Well, I have a black top, some grey fabric and the means (hopefully) to attach the two, so that's a start. I also have some handy liquid latex to get my lifeclock attached, when I can find something costume-jewellery-esque to serve the place. Getting a decent gunbelt and cheapo raygun though? Noooooo, not for the Vidiian. Grr, damn you Woolworths and you're not existing anymore. I suspect I may have to go trawling cheapo markets and toy stores until I can find something suitably cheesy-70s zappy-ness. Well, I may wait and get something suitable Edinburgh-wards, I suspect there may be a better selection there.
Other than that, the weekend was sunny but fairly uneventful. Haven't spent enough time out to start doing a lobster impression, like some people. Did spend some more time out lazing in the Cathedral grounds and snaffling iced lollies while listening to free choir though. Hardly a total loss. Getting back on top of my cardio workout again, thank goodness, I hate slipping there. Gonna try and move the weights up a spot come next session, I think. Lack of noodly arms post pumping means it's that time again.
Definitely need to make it out for some more drinks at some point, slacking around the house is only fun for so long, even if it does involve Dollhouse drooling. Mmmmm, Eliza. I'll be damned if I'm going to go all through this weather and not get another BBQ too. May check weather when I get up north again and nab Hugh to do some entertaining again.

Richard's Awesome Adventures, Pt 2

Wow, had an awesome afternoon out down here. Went out into town in the glorious Summer sun. After a bit of wandering, and my usual Starbucks indlugence, I took the walk along the river and off through the Water Meadows. Amazing walking along there in the green, under the blazing sun, with the river babbling along in the background. Weaving back and forth between the warm sunlight and the cool arches of green shade from the trees.
I passed a wonderful set of bench-seating around a tree, with the suggestion to stop and share a story in the name of the departed friend whose name it was dedicated in. I'd love to be remembered by something like that when I'm gone. Went even further along than I did the time I went along there last with Jodes. Passed a real life Traction Engine making its way down the road there, cargo of felled tress towed being it and poor drivers backing up behind it.
Turn out the trail goes on up through a working livestock farm, including what must be an old fort of some kind I assume. Wandered past the horsies, close enough to touch, and the little baby coos bathing in the stream with their mothers watching over them. Kept on and past, feeling a little wanderlust, knowing there was nowhere I had to be, climbing over the styles and along the paths. Got to a beuatiful spot where the river widened out, with fronds weaving in the current like mermaid hair or a forest under wave, swaying in some aquatic breeze.
When I got back into town I came through the Cathedral grounds and bought a deliciously cool and refreshing ice pop from an old man in a straw hat selling them from a barrow there. He even had a little bell to ring to call people to the ices. I wonder if that's where the old ice-cream truck music idea comes from? And while I was heading back up the street into town I had a gorgeous looking Damson Fly (I think) land on my hand. It had a brilliant blue body and viridian wings fold back behind it. It stopped just long enough for a mother and baby to coo over it, and for three girls going past to ooh, ahh and argue with each over it before it flew off again.
This town does grow on me sometimes, I must admit :)

Hmm, been a while since I posted here. Definitely been lurking and watching you folk though, don't think I haven't been. These past few months at Uni just seem to have gotten busier and busier. Highs, lows and all the various bits inbetween. Wouldn't have it any other way.
Have now had three festive dinners and still have the urge to call out 'Feed Me Seymour' but that;s just little 'ol me. Got a great haul of presents from home and away, and some present money to go bingeing on in New St Andrews over the next few days. Excellent, Smithers. *steeples fingers* Have survived the family so far, with a minimum of casualties. Most definitely enjoyed the latest Torchwood, and quite ejoyed the ending to the Dr Who Christmas. Totally underwhelmed by the TV otherwise. Ahh well, that's just the modern age, I suppose.
Hope all you folk are getting by out there in the real world. A big shout out to my academic family, and to all flatmates past and present. You guys are the best (or are at least of acceptable quality). Well, maybe I'll see yu around here more often if I have more to say, and the time to say it in.

As per the rounds, the first five people to respond to this wil get a piece of art from me. Apply at your own risk. Plenty of other news but I'll get back to that in another post. Lets see who's still listening here.

You are neither a subdued loner nor a jovial chatterbox. You enjoy time with others but also time alone. You are generally calm and composed, reacting moderately well to situations that most people would describe as stressful. Novelty, variety, and change spice up your life and make you a curious, imaginative, and creative person. You have a strong interest in others' needs and well-being. You are pleasant, sympathetic, and cooperative. You are reasonably reliable, organized, and self-controlled.
Wow, I don't know about anyone else but having read the more in depth analyses of each section, I have to see this thing seems to have gotten me donw pretty exactly. Cool.
